Bicycle Words Weekly Newsletter 12

Thanks for reading the newsletter. I hope your Thanksgiving is good and your week is the best it can be.

Gratitude

The season of family and friends is upon is. It seems to have snuck up fast this year. It feels like I was riding in short sleeves and carrying extra water just last week. Now that the long sleeves and knee warmers are in play we all know what that means. Daylight is precious and rides need to start early, in the cold, in order to be done at a reasonable hour. Bundling up for a ride takes more time and makes me late until I get the routine dialed in. All lower clothing first to avoid overheating in the kitchen fixing up bottles when completely wrapped in warm gear.
Back to the show, gratitude. We’re going to see friends and family and perhaps enjoy some time off work. I’ll be grateful for my family and the togetherness we’ll have during Thanksgiving and while traveling around on a road trip stuffed into my truck. Nothing brings a family together like a visit to grandpa’s house!
I’m also grateful for being able to work in an industry that has been such a big part of my life in the last 30 years. Riding and racing all over for decades and then working in a shop doesn’t seem real sometimes. Like, how did this happen? It surely wasn’t planned but it is happening and it is good. The bike shop life, with all its quirks and frustrations, has a certain charm that keeps it real and interesting day after day.
I am certainly grateful for all of my subscribers that read my weekly brain dump and offer critiques and compliments. It really means a lot, thank you.

Enjoy your time off, avoid politics and perhaps discuss derailleurs with your uncle instead, then go ride your bike someplace new.

Thanks for reading, have a great week

Peace,
Paul
